[$60 shipped in the US. New. NOS ("New Old Stock"). Yet vintage. Been stored in a cave in Switzerland.]
Here's a great waterproof Swiss Army vintage military rucksack. You'll be impressed! They're actually better-made than the older "salt'n'pepper" rucks.
DETAILS: 18" tall x 16" wide x 9" deep main pouch. Outside pocket: 8" tall x 10" wide x 3" deep. Green rubberized material with green-colored leather. Impressive "yacht"-quality stainless steel fittings. Tensioned waistband. Steel band internal frame. Weight: 6 lbs.
Dang, they're sweet. I used to not stock them as I didn't think rubber would be nice to haul around. Well, this IS NICE! It's not really rubber -- it's like high-end raft material. Ya know, quality always comes out. So here's yet another Swiss FANCY LUGGAGE grade mil-sup item. It has horse-harness (or yacht) quality fittings. There's a lot of thick leather on this item, including the base of the cargo area---but it's all rubber on the inside.
It would make a GREAT wet-weather carry bag. It's like a canoeing dry-bag only NICER and with rucksack fittings.
It has two inner string closures with flap over top. ...I think that'll work just fine to keep things dry.
I have not filled one with water to see how waterproof they are. I suppose I should. It would be cool if they actually held water.
Remember: I sell these rare'n'nifty items to support the equally rare'n'nifty ARTICLES here at OYB, in lieu of subscriptions. And the purpose of OYB is in turn to promote indie outdoor heritage. Thanks.
