A documentary film about my literary hero Jack Saunders has finally been made. I look forward to seeing it.

There’s a starter-page up at IMDB: www.imdb.com/title/tt1778787/

And, of course, a Facebook page: www.facebook.com/#!/crackerjackfilm

A teaser video is available at both.

I’ve long promoted his work here at OYB and via the fiesty old ULA (Underground Literary Alliance) — selling his existing work, and reprints I’ve done, and retailing collectible editions.

He’s America’s greatest unpublished author. 300+ books unsold to NYC. He’s been a legend in the underground, though.

I have a bunch of stuff of his for sale and about him here at the OYB dot com. Click on “Literature.” Or try ulapress.com — takes you to the same place.

Jack is a great guy. We’ve had good times. He and Brenda raised two fine boys along the Florida coast, who are now both professional musicians (bluegrass and Americana-roots). These are smart, cultured people but have lived simply, mostly at or near the poverty line, I’d think, most of their lives, with Jack losing all sorts of jobs, high and low, due to his writing. But they’ve always eaten well — homecooked, from scratch. It’s modern folk writing. Both cutting edge and downhome. A great combination, I think. His work lets you know what can be done if you DON’T make it, if no one has any sway over you as an artist. There’s both good and bad there, and a lot of tension. See what it does before your very eyes. Jack’s homepage is thedailybulletin.com.
