| JP's "Mtbike of Skis" Story in XC Skier Mag!
January 28, 2013
Yay, I finally got a story in the national XC ski mag of record. It's my usual sermon on how today's touring skis are the mtbike of skiing, along with all the ungroomed trails out there in the world. Fun!
You can read it if you click on the "New Issue" or "Digital Issue" link in the upper left of their website. (My Mac is too old to show it.)
Next stop: PSIA! I wanna get the national instructor's group to include several natural touring techniques in their quiver of taught skills. Presently they ignore all that, call em mistakes. Heck, I got their new Manual and there's not even an entry in the Index for "touring." All XC is considered to be groomed, especially as regards instruction. All ungroomed skiing is put under the heading of Nordic Downhill. (I do see a couple mentions in their 'stepping stones' of touring.) I think they'd encourage beginners and give more depth to the XC scene by adding: *Touring Stride; *Striding Doublepole; *Pendulum Poling; *Skidaddle Skamper; *Flying Herringbone.
