...Make sure your speakers are off the floor. Put em up on little wood blocks if need be. Small, pointy blocks are best -- they make music stands for the purpose.
Man, we just elevated our speakers and it makes a BIG difference!
...More resonant bass and 'brighter' mid-tones.
Nice! (And easy. And cheap.)
(I also hear that keeping them out of the corners and away from walls is smart. So do what you can there.)
