Easy jiffy camp cooking: Coffee Can Twig Stove

I’m taking off on a weekling solo bike tour in a couple days. I’m going lean. It’s still hot out these days and I figure I don’t need a stove. I’ll get rolling in the morning and eventually find coffee if I want it. I’ll go to bed with a few goody-snacks waiting for morning. Simple is fine by me.

But I was thinking I just might enjoy something hot at some point. A little swig of something for ruminatin’. (Makes me remember to bring an airline bottle of bourbon maybe—however, when I sweat all day and it’s hot out, water is all I need.) So I was going to bring a little tin pot and a baggie of coffee grounds and a filter, just in case. Maybe a couple teabags. Light as a feather, no worries. That and some matches would probably be enough—I’d just make a fire. But then I remembered reading about coffee can twig stoves. Well, this guy invented one that looks better than all the rest—and small and easy, too. I think I’ll make it and toss it in with the little tin pot. (OK: I made it, used it, worked great. The guy says it took him a half hour to make his—that probably includes his R&D. It took me 5 minutes to follow his info and make mine. Yeah!)
