German Alpine Rucksack
June 15, 2009

$0 (inc. S/H)

[$40, postpaid in the USA. Non-US extra. SOLD OUT.]

Here's a German military rucksack, used. This is a handsome, effective unit in about 80% condition.

The 3 main benefits are the clip-closures---which are better than buckles for handiness, if you care, and often I do (but not always); and the 2 big outside pockets (I really like segregating my smaller stuff); and the rubberized bottom (set it on wet ground and it stays dry).

The only thing better might be to have 3 outside pockets---which the Dakota and ALICE packs have, which I also offer.

At about 17"x14"x6", it's a good bookbag, daypack, overnighter.

Tough canvas body, solid snap-clips, big interior space, rubber-lined top flap---these are near-new but used enough that they actually have a supple feel, with the canvas feeling plush even and the rubberized areas feeling like soft leather somehow. They've broken in very nicely. You'll like the feel.

I evaluated a bunch of contemporary rucks and this is one of the few good ones that are still available and affordable. Classy, without attitude, if you're OK with gray-green.

NOTE: I offer these items as a way to support the 1000+ free articles on this website, giving a view into independent outdoor culture like no other media source. That is, there is no longer a subscription to a print magazine, but I still need to make a living with this media. So please buy this quality, hard-to-find luggage if ya need it!
