Bikes and Common Sense: Save the World?

Hugely the most car trips are 3 miles or less, right?

What would be the impact if people biked, say, HALF of those short trips?

Right now, what, 1% of such trips are biked, probably. ?

But why stop there? Why not add just ONE more common sense sort of thing to our world-saving mix…

How about when it’s hot out if we let buildings stay a bit warm and when it’s cold out we let them be a little cool. So, say, get used to 75F in the summers and 65F in the winters. Would that kill anyone? We’d have to wear light clothing in summer (indoors and out) and heavier in winter. Big deal! Nowadays biz tries to sell itself with insanity and apparently competes with how cold they can keep interiors in the summers. …So that our family has to wear coats if we want to go watch a movie in the summer. Reverse in winter. We dress in shortsleeves to go into commercial spaces in the winter. Not sane! (The businesses, that is.)

So what if our world — the USA mainly — did those 2 things?

I’d hazard a guess that:

*we could eliminate the oil shortage problem

*eliminate our wrong oil involvements in other nations

*eliminate our personal debt

*eliminate the traffic problem

*eliminate obesity

*increase health

*greatly reduce crime due to humans being out there in person in the fresh air, not in steel coccoons — they’d see more of what was happening — crime happens when people are tucked away

WOW!
