Bicycle Times: hot new FIRST issue!

There’s a new bike mag on the scene: “Bicycle Times.” Subhead: “Your Everyday Cycling Adventure”

It’s from the folks at Dirt Rag. They’d been feeling the temptation to stretch into the whole big world of bikes. We’ve been seeing more racks and fenders on bikes in DR. Now that world has a home. DR can get back to the trails.

The first paper issue just hit the streets.

It’s a general bike culture mag. A citybikes mag. A “welcome to the world of bikes” mag—for the thousands of folks just now jumping into bikes. It’s a booming scene! The goal of this mag is to help folks navigate it. Yet they’re also wanting to support the existing versatile/utility bike culture folks. I’ve heard that they plan on letting it kinda find its own way to satisfy the people based on response.

Their website is more like a blog at present. But you can subscribe from there. Info about the first issue isn’t really listed anywhere. So I’ll do it for ’em!

My fave items were the extensive insider scoop on what goodies to stash on your everyday commuter, and the interview with the BikePortland.org “We’re blowing up!” dude.

By the way, I have an extra copy of this first issue. You can buy it from me, as a sample, for $3 mailed. [SOLD]

Here’s the rundown of main topics in these 64 full-color pages:

*What to pack in your commuter saddlebag? Lotsa helpful ideas…

*Bike life essays

*Bike reviews: Breezer Villager and Voodoo Agwe

*Rainwear reviews

*Commuter goodies product profiles — bags, lights, clothes’n’such

*Interview Jonathan Maus, guy behind the huge, exploding BikePortland.org
