Great new old music: Gram Parsons

All the American Roots music insiders know this guy. Some of his songs were ol’ faves of mine, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I really discovered him. Same with Martha. She now has a crush on him like so many ladies did in the 60’s. GP is the guy who combined Rock and Country (plus Soul and Gospel). He called it American Cosmic Music. He discovered Emmy Lou Harris. He was starcrossed yet is considered

very influential. He died of overdoing it at age 26, probably in large part

due to being friends with Keith Richards. (Those honkytonk Stones songs? –Thanks to Gram.) Gram’s music is sweet, painful and complex.
