XC Skier Mag 12/09: exploring regions at home and abroad

January 20, 2010
$5 (Inc S/H)

This issue of Cross Country Skier magazine has dozens of articles, as usual, covering a huge range of XC. Among the stand-outs that caught my eye are an overview of the huge high school ski scene in Minnesota. It also gives an overview of skiing in Washington (with its rockin' Methow) and New York states, plus the city of Oslo, Norway, to give a window into heritage XC gone bigtime. I also appreciated JD Downing's essay on the importance of small, local clubs in creating both a winning ski culture and an enduring one. JD is the head guy for Masters Skiing USA. The local thing is big for me, too. To cap it off there are a good dozen pages of featuring painters who include XC -- I particularly liked the sentiment of one artist who went after the waves of snow.
