Team OYB: Going to Bohemia!

Pal Chris and I are driving up to Bohemia for the first time ever Feb. 10-13. I’m taking the train to Chicago, meeting CB, then we’re driving straight north for 7 hours to the Mighty Keeweenaw.

This will be the first time also for both of us to try Newschool Telemark equipment.

Just by coincidence it’s also Telefest Weekend up there.

And, wonderfully enough, we hope to be informally guided by Steve Rowe, one of the developers of Bohemia and an ongoing snow-guru for the region.

Lucky us!

Bohemia has only black and double-black runs. And it’s ungroomed. Ho ho ho!

It makes for a gorgeous trail map. That’s all I’ve seen of it so far!

I’ll keep you posted… I’ll try to take some pics.

It’s possible that on the Sunday of that weekend we’ll ski the Tech Trails at MTU. These are now nationally famous for the perfection of their grooming and facility development. The ski culture should blow us away. I look forward to it! (They held the Nat’ls and JO’s there recently.)

Here’s a report on the fun up there that I posted in ’09 which Steve replied to: www.outyourbackdoor.com/article.php?id=1134
