Jan Heine just released his new bike book, which was a huge labor of love. It’s the complete story of Rene Herse, the premier French bike maker and designer, the father of the light cyclotouring scene and concept. It’s 400+ pages and full of bikes and historic cycling pics dedicting the Herse era and legend, both socially and technically. $86 clams. It’s a 6-lb highest quality art/tech book. (Jan now also is the owner of the Herse bike company!)

(Should I get inventory and list this title?)

By the way, Jan Heine’s “Bicycle Quarterly” magazine is an amazing celebration of bike life and tech. And his blog is certainly one of the best. It has an attitude toward results, culture and craft that applies broadly.

Here’s his blog: janheine.wordpress.com. I like its name “Off the Beaten Path.”
