knowledge of Gulf Coast culture, marine life, boats, motors and everything else is extensive and funny. His stories of the way they cook seafood are fresh and inspiring. And the tale of how he and his cohorts played as kids---naked, pushing a rowboat around on the flats, eating raw crabs like coons---is awe-inspiring...for a certain kind of reader.
