Finally, a bigger bag… still nice, not too pricey

I’m a fan of luggage and bags. I also don’t have much $ to spend.

I offer a hard-to-find small daybag and a medium bookbag and have been looking for a larger shoulderbag to fill a market gap there.

But! We may have a solution at the door! I was just directed to the “Gear Bag” at the Duluth Trading Company (these aren’t the “duluth pack” people). Man, it looks spot on! And $50 is quite affordable. It has a zip-top main section ringed by pockets of several kinds: zip, snap and open. 19″x15″x6″.

In this larger bag category it’s easy to find sporty, huge, rigid-nylon messengerbags—but they’re a bit big, a huge overflap isn’t always right, they don’t stand up on the floor on their own, they’re sporty rather than classy, they’re kinda rigid. I’m looking for candidates that are thrifty, canvas and rumply with leather points, about 16″x14″x9.” Good for books and overnights as well as bike-carry or a few groceries. Rucksacks are anr easy to find item but too tall and narrow. Too bad—there are a couple nice Swiss/Swedish mil-sup rucksacks out there but they couldn’t even be altered into decent shoulderbags.

And in the pricey category we have the Territory Ahead Guy Bag at $160 which seems just about the right item. But too much $ for me. I presume that Domke and suchlike camerabag companies also offer very nice items in the $150+ category.
