Packed-powder conditions on Mt. Down-the-Street!
We've had great ski and sled snow for a week now. Last weekend there were 100 kids plus parents jammed on the local steep hill. It's getting colder and windier now but the hill still had kids--including ours---this afternoon.
My brother devised a sled made of old downhill skis bolted to a plastic torpedo---easily the fastest on the hill. Comfy and stable, too. Pic soon.
The kids are getting steadier on xc yard skis now, too. I can see the glide-love coming on. They act leery of it at first but after awhile I see a little hop come in, a little glide, then they start trying to milk the glide. More glide more good. Now the balance... They're working on it. Not listening to dad much...it's too personal for that.
