My First YouTube! —“A Little Ski Outing”

[BUMP from 3/07] Well, I finally finished editing my first Ski Movie! What fun! I put it up on YouTube. Check it out!

My bro, Tim, and I went out skiing with the little still-cam taped to the helmet and used in video mode. We’ve never done this before. Well, not trying to keep a person in the frame, anyway. (I’ve tested the “bare” cam concept.) What’s more, my bro thought to catch a great new perspective by strapping the helmet on backwards to get me skiing at him face first! That was great! It seemed to raise the “nuts” ante a bit, too, if only due to the awkward straps factor. Unfortunately, we ran out of time and Tim didn’t want to trade the helmet away, so he’s the “other” guy.

Then there was the editing. On an old computer. With the crudest software. That kept crashing. And of course I didn’t know what I was doing. Learn as you go, eh?

And, hey, compare it to the mtbike footage I took on the same trail last fall: outyourbackdoor.com/articles2006/solo.nexus/bike.mpg.

(The park is East Gate on the Red Cedar River in Okemos.)

Well, here you go, no more apologies—it was a blast!

(I embedded the video right here below.)
