OYB Hits the Big League

Over the next year or so, I’m gonna make zining into my new *anti*dayjob!!!!

I have a very rare chance to give it a shot. I’ve sold off most of my worldly assets and greatly simplified life’s undertakings, plus I’ve basically sold my job. It’s my first big work change in 15 years!

If you know of anyone else who is pulling off a stunt like this, lemme know…there’s strength in numbers.

I have about 10 zinebook projects up in the air and I’m going to start putting out my zine regularly again (frequency is king!), but this time it’ll be a zine-catalog, with excerpts of my books in there, along with stories. –Plus listings of all my various bumperstickers and other new upcoming gee-gaws, such as a tee and a mug. I’m going to be taking out ads in micro-pubs and zines. I’m going to be revving up the website.

After my bust-out year, whatever slack I need to make up, I’ll get a job to cover that. But it just might work. At that point I should have enough inventory and systems up’n’running smoovly to keep it going even with a job. –As an ex-postie, Martha loves mailing and shipping and dealing with OYB types of people!

Talk about scary and thrilling at the same time!

The National Family Circus Tour is part of an initial head-readjusting phase that I need after years of grindstone tech-book publishing. I’ve been doing Creative on the side (in the black) and it’s been busting to get out. Finally, Creative has its chance to join Publishing for a shot at Creative+Publishing!

So that’s my BIG news! I hope to see someayou folks out there! If I had a PR head on my shoulders I’d send out Press Releases. “Family hits road to save America one blueberry pie and bike tune-up at a time. They say to support local culture before it’s too late.” Well, it’s a start. I’ll do it!
