The QWS is coming!

Heads-up, Michiganders and Midwesterners within range!

The Quiet Water Symposium is a great cabin-fever buster on Sat., March 7. It’s at MSU in the big Pavilion on the south side of campus

Small boat stuff galore … plus all manner of quiet, human-power outdoor stuff that fits with our Great Lakes region and style.

Bikes, boats, skis, boots, paddle, sail, jackknife, rucksack, guidebook, binocs and oldtime skilz…

I’ll have an OYB booth!

[Further text lifted and rehashed from my last show report…]

100+ booths and 1000+ attendees. The QWS is Michigan’s only outdoor “silent sports” show.

The QWS might also be the only outdoor trade show that’s sponsored by a university. (Any others?) This lets the organizers include folks based on merit rather than cash. (Vestiges of socialism!) It ends up being a super-convivial event.

But what really makes this event tick is the VOLUNTEERS. That’s who runs the whole thing!

It’s part of MSU’s “Agriculture and Natural Resources Week.” It’ll be the 93rd running!

FYI… MSU is the nation’s oldest land-grant college. Its mission is to provide a classic education to everyday people. This is NOT the mission of other universities. But I note that due to “these tight times” MSU has cut nearly all money support for the QWS.

So the QWS confab is a BIG statewide tradition. Cool. If you like this kind of thing, you’d be happy you showed up!
