Toward the Settling of a Dispute

Have you ever heard someone say that Email & Co. will spell the end of snailmail? Have you met an e-hater who said ‘Snailmail is Real Mail! Quit calling it snailmail!’ Do you quarrel needlessly? I think so.

Martha, who is now a real Mailman About Town, has solved the problem.

She says that TV-Net hookups will be used to handle, deliver and resolve all matters financial. You’ll pay your bills on TV. Bills in the mail is so inefficient and such a waste of time and paper. (Why, our own family is poised to switch to autopayment and net/fax payment of our several regular bills right now.)

TV-Net will also handle all advertising and junkmail. It’ll be so cheap and targettable that paper and printing will seem to be a joke in 5 years. Who’d be so silly?!

Most of all, bills and junkmail hurt our mailmen. It ruins their morale and breaks their backs. It causes the bloat and enormity of the postal system. —Don’t even try to call it ‘jobs.’ (Money doesn’t exist in a vaccuum. –Let the dang system get cut in half; no one’s going anywhere.)

In a few short years, mailmen will only carry mail. Yes, letters. Written from one person to another. They will not carry a huge, ugly bag. You will not see them every day. When someone writes you a letter, the carrier will deliver it. Seeing the carrier will be a pleasant surprise, as it should be.

All mailmen hate bills and junkmail. Postal administrators love them both. (Actual letters are so unpredictable. “What’s this? Handwriting?!”)

Support your local mailman. Or gal, of course.
