Modern Gunfighters and Heroes or Notorious Bad Guys?

It seems like all the great gunfighters we read about are from the past.

Mainly cowboy days. The stories seem to equally include good guys and

bad guys, all of ‘character’ and skill. But I don’t recall many MODERN

legends. Any list out there? Or book? Website?

I imagine there were a lot in the recent world wars and other wars,

like Vietnam. I’ve read some Vietnam memoirs that talk about soldiers who

were legendary, but these stories don’t seem to leave the ‘insider’ location and

even after reading them, I don’t have the best feel for them. What’s up?

Paladin lists stories about the snipers (like Carlos), but that

has to only scratch the surface. (They also mention bio’s of a

couple cops.) Maybe I haven’t looked at available books close enuf.

It would seem that more contemporaries would be

legends in the making. Even bad guys too. Heck, even drug-dealers.

Some have to be near-miraculous gunfighters. Or not? Is it a different

world now?
